When the gun goes off it is just you and what you have done that matters! The moment is what it is and nothing more.

Well the first race of the season was a few weeks ago.

We had a great turnout with Angus winning the 4k event in a personal best of 12:45. Angus had a very good athletics season running 9:13 for 3k and 16:07 for 5k on the track. He was the U20 ACT 5k Champion for 2018!

In 2nd was Duncan who during the 2017/18 athletics season ran 1:54/3:51/8:34. He ran in the Zatopek 3k and qualified for the U20 1500m at Nationals placing 10th. Duncan also placed 8th in the U18 XC Junior Champs in Wollongong in 2017.

In 3rd place was Max who had a very impressive athletics season placing 3rd in the All Schools 800m in Adelaide in December and improving on this with a 2nd place at Junior Nationals in Sydney over 800 in a pb of 1:55.94. Max also placed 4th in U17 Nationals in the 1500m in 4:02. Max placed 8th in the U16 National Junior XC in Wollongong in 2017

In 4th place was Jack who recorded personal best in the 2017/18 Athletics season with a 8:57 3k and an impressive 2:00.5 for 800m. Jack placed 11th in the U18 National XC Champs in Wollongong in 2017.

5th place went to James who recorded personal best of 2:06/4:18/9:32 during the 17/18 Athletics season. James also represented the ACT at National Athletics in the steeplechase. James is a Div 1 soccer player and will juggle the two during the winter months.

6th place went to Alex who is getting fitter every session. Alex was overseas during most of Athletics season but will be one to watch during the coming months. Alex supplements his running with cycling.

Our first female over the 4k was Lucy. Lucy was 10th in the All Schools XC Championships in Tasmania as a 13 year old. Unfortunately recently she suffered a broken wrist playing netball but has been able to run more. This was her first race over 4k so a good run to say the least!

Next was Zoe who during the 17/18 Athletics season ran 4:56/10:57 for 1500m/3k. Zoe has won numerous National Championships in Orienterring.

Our next results included Matt beating his dad over the 4k distance. Matt is getting better every week and is a very good baseball player and represents his school in soccer as well. Scott is one of the top long course triathletes for his age in the country.

In the 2k we had Olivia run a very good time of 7:22 for the distance after morning uni exams. Well done.

Well done to all the next race report will be the ACT champs on June 13th.
