The benefits of training in a group!

Why training in a group is important to improving performance in endurance sports

We all know what it is like. Heading out the door for the run you know that you have to do in order for you to achieve your goal. No one to run with but you know the work has to be done.

No matter one's ability training with a group of athletes that have common goals and shared interest often found in running groups can be very enjoyable and make the sport more social than people realize.

With a range of abilities sometimes just warming up and doing drills together make all the difference in getting athletes together. There are many innovative ways to have athletes start off intervals together so that has someone to run with.

From a performance standpoint running with someone faster on hard days can actually help with one's motivation to push oneself a little harder.

Recently one of our new 'fast moms' commented, after a particularly challenging sessions of intervals, to me "Who does this on their own" my reply not many and having someone to train with makes all the difference.

So find a group and get to it! The time will go by faster and you will see the improvements in your next Parkrun for sure!
